Pruning Hedges

April 6th, 2009 by Mike Yeager

- You can prune a hedge formally or informally.

- The principal idea remains the same. If bare spots on the bottom of the hedge are to be avoided the top width of the hedge must be narrower then the bottom. This is so sun can reach all the foliage,

We prefer hand pruning over power pruning because it leaves you in greater control. It also avoids the chop marks that occur when power pruning. See diagram.
